For the new Home Minister, fulfillment of BJP’s promise of ensuring the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley and measures to check the illegal immigration from Bangladesh will rank high on agenda. As Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is the main adversary of creation NCTC, the UPA Government’s project is expected to be shelved by the Ministry.
The Home Ministry is expected to rework its strategy on internal security especially in tackling Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorists and Maoists. The NIA’s politically sensitive “Hindu Terror” related cases filed during the UPA regime could be reviewed. RSS leader Indresh Kumar, who was questioned during the Congress regime on these cases, has already aired that new Government was expected to deliver justice.
As far as dealing with Maoist menace, a better co-ordination in the joint operation of Central forces and State police will be one of the major challenges.
