All the top leaders of Nationalist Congress Party (NC), including its president Sharad Pawar will attend the two-day working committee and national executive committee meeting here beginning June 9. Giving this information here on Sunday party’s general secretary and Katihar MP Tairiq Anwar said June 10 is NCP’s foundation day. He said apart from Pawar other leaders like Prafull Patel and Chhagan Bhujban will also participate the two days programmes.

The party is likely to finalise its alliance with secular alliance in Bihar for the upcoming Assembly election. “We favour a perfect alliance among all the secular parties to check the surge of BJP. We want that JD(U) and RJD stitch their ties without any flaw and involve Congress and NCP in it honourably,” said Anwar.

The NCP had contested 2010 Assembly election on about 150 seats without entering alliance with any party. Though it could not win a single seat its candidates were runners up on four seats, secured third position on 13 seats and fourth on 18 seats. The NCP wants to secure as much votes to claim recognition as state party from the Election Commission.

Anwar said his party has not put up any condition nor staked claim on seats. The main players in the alliance should not undermine any party, he said and added that lalu Prasad’s RJD should be in the alliance. “If cracks appear in alliance it would not become a formidable force and only help BJP,” he added. However, Anwar was not clear on the leadership issue. He said, “Nitish Kumar is the Chief Minister and the alliance will contest with him as CM. But who will be the leader if alliance gets majority should be deiced by all the partners after the election,” he said.
