National Conference MlA and provincial president, Jammu province, Devender Singh Rana on Friday appealed to Governor NN Vohra to immediately launch preparation of J&K State Subject Register on the lines of National Register of Citizens (NRC). He demanded that the properties and assets of non State subject holders settled in the State should be seized and they should be taken out of lakhanpur, the gateway of Jammu & Kashmir.
National Conference legislator also targeted West Pakistan Refugees, living in different parts of Jammu, by saying they are not State subject holders.
“They may be citizens of India but they do not possess state subject”. He said, “we appeal to the Governor to identify all those non State subject holders within a limited time frame and drop them outside lakhanpur”.
Addressing a Press conference here in Jammu DS Rana also pointed accusing fingers towards BJP Governments both at the Centre and in the State over the issue of handling illegal settlement of Rohingyas in the State in large numbers.
When Rana was asked to spell out his party’s stand on the threat posed by illegal immigrants from Myanmar he maintained the BJP led Government is in power at the Centre for last four years, the BJP ran alliance Govt with the PDP in the State for over three years why they could not take any action against them.
“Who stopped them from relocating Rohingyas out of the state of Jammu & Kashmir”.
He, however, washed his hands over allegations that majority of Rohingyas arrived here during the rule of Omar Abdullah led alliance Government in the State.
Speaking in support of continuation of Article 35-A DS Rana said, “every worker of the National Conference is ready to struggle for safeguarding our own identity. Rana said, “I am a proud Dogra i have every right to fight for my identity”.
like wise every Kashmir and a resident of ladakh region has got equal right to fight for their own identity.
He said why people of Jammu and Kashmir demanding continuation of Article 35-A are branded as anti-nationals while similar sentiments have been expressed by the citizens of Assam under the leadership of BJP.
Reacting to the suggestions of National Conference Provincial President and MlA from Nagrota state BJP Chief Ravinder Raina told The Pioneer," citizens of India have a right to settle down in any part of the country. West Pakistani Refugees are also citizens of India. They too have every right to settle down in the state of Jammu and Kashmir because it is also an integral part of India."
Raina demanded that illegal immigrants from Myanmar settled across the state of Jammu and Kashmir should be immediately relocated out of Jammu and Kashmir as they continue to pose a security threat.
Referring to the campaign launched by the Kashmir based political parties in support of Article 35-A state BJP Chief maintained,“several separatist groups as well as mainstream parties including National Conference are issuing threatening statements on Article 35-A, and provoking local residents. He said the matter is subjudice in the court of law and instead of organising protest demonstrations these political parties should fight the case legally.
