Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has found himself in a unsavoury controversy, with the Thane police accusing him of spying on his wife.
Siddiqui’s name cropped in the investigations into what has come to be known as the Thane Call Detail Records (CDR) scam, after the police arrested 11 persons–mainly detectives–in connection with the scam.
The investigations have revealed that Siddiqui had allegedly acquired CDRs of his wife’s phone through an advocate who had hired a private detective to keep an eye on her contacts and whereabouts.
Confirming the alleged involvement of Siddiqui in the CDR scam, Thane Crime branch’s senior Police Inspector Nitin Thakare said: “One of the arrested persons revealed Siddiqui’s name during the custodial interrogation. We have issued summons to the actor, but he has not appeared before us for questioning”,
Informed official sources said the investigations had thrown up the names of several other Bollywood personalities, businessmen and even politicians who are likely to be questioned soon.
Among the detectives arrested in connection with the CDR scam are Makesh Pandiyan, Pratik Mohpal, Prashant Palekar, Jigar Makwana, all from Thane, Prashant Sonawane and Santosh Pandagle, both from Navi Mumbai.
