Trinamool Congress MlA Iqbal Ahmed, who was on Tuesday summoned by the Kolkata Police for questioning in the Narada video case, said he would reveal everything about those leaders who had sabotaged the party and also how a Mathew Samuels had cheated on him and his party to give it a bad name during the elections.
“I have nothing to hide and will reveal to the police whatever I have to say. I will tell them about how this person Samuels cheated on me and how he promised us that he would sponsor projects in sports and many other things before winning my confidence,” Ahmed the brother of former Union Minister and Trinamool MP Sultan Ahmed said.
He also alleged that a Trinamool leader had played an important role in sabotaging the party before the elections. “I will tell this to the police,” he said.
Besides other questions the police were likely to ask him about who had introduced him to Samuels.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, had after roaring back to power for the second time announced a “proper and thorough probe” into the Narada sting case. Accordingly a case was filed against Samuels and he was issued summons.
The Narada CEO however contended that he had nothing to share with the police as all the hard discs, mobile phones and gadgets that were used during the sting operation had been handed over to the Calcutta High Court which was already hearing the case on whether the probe should be handed over to the CBI or not.
Published just before the Assembly elections the Narada videos had shown how a host of Ministers including Subroto Mukherjee, Bobby Hakim, Suvendu Adhikary, Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee, MPs Saugato Roy, Kakoli Ghoshdastidar, Sultan Ahmed were taking cash from a journalist who had faked himself as a prospective investor.
“I will tell the police who had introduced me to him and to whom I had sent him after he managed to convince men about his genuineness,” Ahmed said adding he would tell the police about “politicians who had tried to sabotage the party during the elections” by arranging the Narada video case.
Earlier, the police had summoned IPS officer SMH Mirza who was also seen in the video tapes accepting money in the names of some politicians.
