Hailing the elevation of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as BJP’s election campaign committee chairman for 2014 lok Sabha elections, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal described it as “a master-stroke” and a “knockout punch” against a staggering UPA Government and Congress party.
“This has already sent shock-waves in the UPA and completely demoralised it, as is borne out by their nervous reactions of their leaders,” said Badal.
He added that the political climate in the country clearly pointed towardsa strong anti-Congress and anti-UPA wave. . Badal, who arrived in Mumbai on a four-day official visit on Sunday afternoon, spoke to Modi over the phone to personally congratulate him immediately after the news of his appointment as thecampaign spearhead of the BJP’s Election Campaign Committee poured in.
He also spoke to the BJP national president Rajnath Singh on the phone to congratulate him on the decision. He added, “Modi’s clarity of ideas on development and governance and his highly impressive record as a mass-mobiliser and crowd-puller are great assets for the BJP and allies. This is the beginning of the end of the scam-tainted UPA Government at the Centre. Modi’s elevation gives a head start to the BJP and allies in the run up to the elections.”
SAD president and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal also welcomed BJP announcement of making Modi as the chairman of 2014 Poll Campaign Committee.
“This announcement would mark the beginning of decimation of corrupt, inefficient and insensitive UPA-II government from the Centre. The people of the country were looking towards National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to save the country from the clutches of most corrupt UPA Government,”said Sukhbir.
He said that Modi has shown his capability and caliber in successful poll campaigns of Gujarat and we should utilize his services to effetely chalk out NDA’s campaign, projecting the failures of UPA-II.
“Shiromani Akali Dal has remained an inseparable part of NDA and would continue to support BJP in all its moves and decisions to oust Congress from the power,” he added.
