Suspecting that the outlaws in Chhattisgarh “in desperation” want to derail the “positive narrative” of development of the Modi Government and the State dispensation, Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu Tuesday wondered whether there could be a tacit support from “the so called human rights activists silent on mindless acts” of the left extremists.
Naidu called for an urgent need “to build strong public opinion” against such acts of violence and “the so called human rights activists who have double standards”.
The Union Information and Broadcasting Minister said human rights groups “don’t uphold similar rights” of security personnel, their families and innocent people.
“I am constrained to infer that such motivated acts of mindless violence are being resorted to with tacit support from the so called human rights advocates in desperation to derail the positive narrative emerging from the ongoing efforts by the Central and State Governments to reach the fruits of development to the last of the poor and to ensure rapid economic development”, said Naidu.
The Minister said while the nation was shocked by the killings and violence, “the so called sympathisers and proponents of human rights have maintained baffling silence since yesterday”.
He said rights activists raise voice and “react violently” if an extremist or a terrorist is killed by the police “but take shelter in silence when large number of Jawans and innocent people get killed”.
He asked if human rights are only meant for those who take to violence in furtherance of “their outdated ideologies” and not for security personal and common people.
The Minister said the families of Jawans killed and injured while in uniform would get the highest consideration from Central and State Governments.
Another Central Minister Prakash Javadekar also condemned the killing of 25 CRPF personnel by Naxals in Chhatt-isgarh “as an act of cowardice.”
“Since their strength is getting reduced they are doing such things. This is a strategy of cowards. This is a cowardly attack,” he said.
As many as 25 CRPF personnel were killed and seven wounded in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Monday , in the deadliest ambush by Naxalites of security forces this year.
