Naidu on maiden visit of T district to revive TDP's sagging fortunes

Published on:

In a bid to revive the Telugu Desam Party in Telangana, party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu undertook his maiden visit to Warangal, the hotbed of Telangana movement and addressed a public meeting. Naidu’s first visit to Telangana district since the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in June last, was significant.

In his address to the party workers, Naidu said that his party’s goal was the overall development of all Telugu people. “TDP is the party of all Telugu people”, he said.

Taking a dig at the TDP leaders who deserted the party and joined others, Naidu said, “leaders might have left but the workers are still with the TDP”. This was an oblique reference to several TDP MlAs and other leaders who joined the TRS before and after the 2014 elections. One of them Kadiam Srihari from Warangal was recently elevated to the position of Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana.

Police made elaborate security arrangements in view of the threat of protests by the Telangana protagonists right from Hyderabad to Warangal as Naidu made stopovers at Bhongir and some other places to address party supporters. The Warangal meeting held at Hygrovachari grounds in Hanmakonda was also addressed by several other leaders including Telangana State TDP president l Ramanna and E Dayakar Rao.

"I will never forget the sacrifices of the party workers and will always stand by them", Naidu promised. He urged the party workers and leaders to remain united.
