Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday advised Aam Admi Party (AAP) not to comment on matters which have national as well as international implications. On the other hand, the Congress cautioned the newly-political outfit to make statements responsibly as now AAP is a political party and is being heard across. The reactions came following AAP leader Prashant Bhushan’s comment that there should be a referendum on Army’s presence in Kashmir.
Azad said that one should not comment on a matter not well-versed in as it creates more confusion than solution. “I have immense respect for AAP but when someone gets success all of a sudden then he thinks himself as an Alexander, who will conquer the whole world. They must go very slow. There are certain issues which have national and international implications. So many people are talking about Kashmir without knowing anything about it. This creates more confusion than solution,” Azad said talking to the reporters at a function in Kolkata.
Azad, who has served J&K as the Chief Minister earlier, pointed that Army was called in when the police and administration failed to tackle the situation and it had been done in Maharashtra, Gujarat and some other States as well. “After so many sacrifices of our soldiers, police personnel, we have almost got rid of militancy there. So my humble request is please don’t comment on issues on which we are not well versed. So there is nothing new if such situation arises in J&K too and Army is being called in,” said Azad
Congress spokesperson Sanjay Jha said that AAP is no more a society, NGO or any other outfit but now a political party and in governance system presently. “It is important for AAP to realise that they are no longer an NGO, they should be aware of the consequences of what they say. They should not make irresponsible statements as they are being heard now. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that he doesn’t agree with Bhushan.
“If you speak on such a sensitive issue, you should consider thinking about it,” Jha said at the AICC briefing. Congress has supported AAP for the government formation of Delhi just a week ago.
