Mussoorie to host Winter line Carnival in December-end

Published on:
Disaster-struck Uttarakhand plans to infuse a new life in the severely affected tourism sector with a 'Winter line Carnival' in the hill of Mussorie later this month. The event is being organized by the Mussoorie Municipal Corporation between December 27 and 30.
Winter line is a frequently visible phenomenon between October and January wherein the western horizon is replete with myriad shades of yellow, red, orange and mauve with the setting sun.The phenomenon is unique to Mussoorie and a certain place in Switzerland.
"The idea behind the event is to showcase the rich natural heritage of Uttarakhand and convince people that the state is safe for tourist. We were hit by the distaster, but only few areas of the State were affected," Dehradun District Magistrate BVRC Purushottam told reporters here.
The event would start with a cultural parade from different states out at the Mall Road on December 27. Mountain biking, cycling, fashion show, rock climbing and other events are also lined up.
