The affidavit of the Centre in the Supreme Court opposing triple Talaq has left the Muslims in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh highly annoyed.

All the Muslim organisations belonging to various sections of the community have joined hands to intensify their opposition to the move and said that this was an attempt to pave the way for the imposition of Uniform Civil Code.

A meeting of religious scholars of various sections have pleged their full support to the stand taken by the All India Muslim Personal law Board on the issue.

Sadar Majlis-e-Ulemae Deccan (Chief Council of the Religious Scholars of Deccan) strongly condemned the move to impose Uniform Civil Code and said that Muslims will never accept any such move.

“The Muslim personal law was being targeted by the communal forces as part of a conspiracy”, said Moulana Syed Qubool Pasha Shuttari, the secretary of the council. Moulana Mufti Khaleel Ahmad, Rector Jamia Nizamia, a religious seminary, urged all the Muslims to stand united against the attempt to tamper with the Personal law. “The Shariat Application Act was enacted in 1937 and it was being followed since then. Now the media was indulging in misleading propaganda”, he said. “The issue of triple Talaq was being raised to ensnare Muslims in a non issue”, he added.

Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, the influential Muslim political party of the state has also come out strongly against the Center’s move on triple Talaq. MIM president and MP Asauddin Owaisi said that the attempts to impose Uniform Civil Code were aimed at disinte grating the country. He said that Muslim Personal law was recognised by the constitution.
