Though the victory in the by-elections of six out of the eight municipality seats is not a triumph, but with lok Sabha elections are due in next three months, it would work as morale booster for the BJP cadre in Gujarat. In the recently held bypolls of municipality, the BJP won seven out of the eight sea
The elections were held for Dahod, Jhalod, Vijalpor, Deesa, Dhrol, Dholka, Borsad and Petlad towns on Sunday. The result declared by the state elections commission on Tuesday brought cheers at the BJP party headquarter in Ahmedabad. The Congress could win only one seat from Borsad, hometown of Union Minister Bharatsinh Solanki, while an independent candidate emerged victorious from Petlad in Anand district.
The fresh victory in bypoll only put BJP cadres in Gujarat on Cloud-9, said a senior BJP leader explaining that after the triumph in the Assembly elections in December 2012, the saffron brigade is continuously winning in bypoll ranging from Panchayat, municipality, municipal corporations, assembly and even lok Sabha. The recent victory only indicated the kind of support BJP is getting from the people, he added.
BJP’s winning spree in by-polls started in the first week of June 2013 with the victory in two lok Sabha and four Assembly seats. That victory followed by success in Panchayat Municipal Corporation by-elections in the same month. After that nearly three more bypoll were held in the State at different level and in all, BJP candidates kept on winning in their respective constituencies.
