Mulayam dares Modi to contest lS poll from UP

While the NaMo factor continues to loom large over his political opponents, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav challenged Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to contest the lok Sabha election from Uttar Pradesh.

Talking to mediaperson in Rampur on Wednesday, Yadav remarked: “Modi is most welcome to contest from any seat in UP. Now the voters are wise enough to see through the designs of the BJP. They will not be divided on communal lines any more so let Modi try his best, he will not succeed.”

The SP chief was in Rampur to express condolence at the death of senior Minister Mohammad Azam Khan’s mother. Hitting out at Modi, Yadav said that it was seen that outsiders were not acceptable to the UP voters.

He cited the example of Karnataka Assembly election where Modi had campaigned intensively for the BJP. However, his image had failed to garner votes for the BJP. Yadav said the saffron party was now unnecessarily trying to paint Modi’s image larger than life in an attempt to influence the voters.

“But the people will no more be fooled by the BJP so Modi is free to try his best. Modi’s magic is already fading,” the SP chief pointed out. Political observers are of the view that the BJP’s rivals are fearing polarisation of votes. This may have an impact on the poll prospects of the SP, hence the party is trying to dilute the Modi factor.
