In a major development in the ongoing investigation into the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, the Special Task Force (STF) on Tuesday registered an FIR against Governor Ramnaresh Yadav.
Official sources said that the FIR has been registered against the Governor in Prevention of Corruption Act for the recommendations made in favour of incompetent candidates on the letterhead of the Governor.
However, prior to this, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawarchand Gehlot claimed in Ujjain that the Madhya Pradesh High Court (MPHC) has permitted to lodge an FIR against the Governor.
Notably, the name of Governor Yadav’s son Shailesh Yadav and his Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Dhanraj Yadav already figured in the charge-sheet of the scam and it was after this that the STF sought permission of the HC to lodge an FIR against high dignitaries.
According to legal experts, though the STF has booked the Governor for his alleged role in the scam, it would have to obtain Presidential sanction to submit charge-sheet against him.
