More trouble brewing for jailed TMC leader

Jailed Trinamool Congress leader Madan Mitra could be in bigger trouble. The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI), probing the Saradha chit fund case has gathered evidence suggesting a link between the former Bengal Minister and Rose Valley group another multi-crore ponzi firm.

Mitra who had allegedly not cooperated with his interrogators during the past one year of his incarceration is likely to be taken to Assam and Odisha for further questioning CBI sources said adding he also could be made to sit face-to-face with Rose Valley chief Gautam Kundu for interrogation.

Kundu who had earlier conceded to the media that he and Saradha chief Sudipto Sen had indeed met the topmost Trinamool leadership at the Dello Bungalow at Kalimpong in Darjeeling a few years ago is also currently in jail. The Trinamool Congress has however not minced words regarding the said meeting.

The heavyweight Trinamool leader who enjoys a massive mass following was reportedly one of the main fund-raisers of the Trinamool Congress.

“Till now he has not opened up much but we expect him to cooperate in future when made to sit with other accused,” CBI sources said.

Rose Valley which reportedly had a bigger turn-over than the Saradha group had connections with more Trinamool leaders including a few MPs some of whom have already been questioned by the CBI.

Meanwhile, in a suggestive tone another jailed Trinamool MP Kunal Ghosh has demanded interrogation of other party leaders. “Why only Madan Mitra! There are other leaders who are roaming free outside and should be grilled along with Kundu,” the rebel Trinamool MP said.
