Modi, Yogi most sought-after poll campaigners

Newly appointed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emerged as one of the most sought after poll campaigner along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming Assembly elections as Gujarat BJP leaders want both of them to travel extensively ahead of the much awaited polls to be held in this year.

These sentiments were expressed during a State level meeting of the saffron party in presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and State BJP present Jitu Vaghani at pilgrimage Sarangpur, situated in newly carved Botad district, around 170 km from the State capital Gandhinagar.

Since 2002, Gujarat BJP witnessed only one star campaigner — Narendra Modi — right from Panchayat polls to lok Sabha elections. But the BJP leaders are seeing similar charisma in Yogi and he would be another star campaigner during the upcoming State Assembly polls.

Confirming the development State BJP spokesman Bharat Pandya said that within few days as Chief Minister of the largest Indian State, Yogi’s work was being discussed not only nationally but also internationally. His presence as one of the key campaigners for the party would definitely help during campaign, said Pandya.

Yogi would definitely addressed public rallies in the State, said Gujarat BJP chief Jitu Vaghani, adding that apart from Yogi all BJP CMs would be invited to campaign and highlight development works they carried out in their respective States.

“Clarity of thoughts and his ability to strike chord with the people are unmatched. During the meeting, Modi and Yogi emerged as the most shout after leaders to campaign. Being the Prime Minister of India, Modi would have limitation to camp in the State. In such scenario, Yogi would be the best option,” said a senior BJP leader, who remained present in the meeting.

Reacting on Yogi’s demand from Gujarat BJP leaders, opposition Congress leader Himanshu Patel said that just like UP, BJP leaders in Gujarat too were in process of playing politics of polarisation.
