Keeping with his promise to visit Gujarat frequently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is travelling his home State at least for couple of times in the current year.
On September 17, the Prime Minister is visiting the State to celebrate his 66th birthday. After that he would visit again in November first week to inaugurate World Kabbadi Championship in Ahmedabad. In fact during a public meeting near Jamnagar in Saurashtra last month, he promised people of Gujarat to visit the State repeatedly.
“The Prime Minister would celebrate his birthday with tribal people in South Gujarat. Besides, Modiji is expected to address a public rally at Navsari town near Surat, confirmed a senior functionary of Gujarat BJP. The officials concerned as well as some of the key functionaries of Gujarat BJP too are unclear about the Prime Minister’s itinerary on September 17. On his birthday traditionally PM Modi visits his mother Hira Ba and takes her blessings before beginning the day. He has kept this tradition since many years.
Within a span of a month, this would be the third visit of PM Modi to his poll bound home-state. He visited Sarangpur near Ahmedabad to pay last respect to Pramukh Swami Maharaj on 15th August. In a fortnight’s period he again visited Saurashtra region to inaugurate an irrigation project where he promised people to travel the state repeatedly. Keeping his words, he planned a yet another visit to Gujarat that too in less than a month’s period.
If sources in BJP have to be believed, Modi’s visits to Gujarat would work as damage control for the ruling BJP in wake of pro-quota Patidar and Dalit agitations. Strategically PM Modi would not utter single words against any rival political outfits and instead focus on the achievements of his government at Centre.
In November this year he is visiting the state once again to inaugurate the World Kabaddi Championship in Ahmedabad. The championship is being held in Maninagar area, which used to be Modi’s assembly constituency, during his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister from December 2002 to May 2014 till the result of last lok Sabha polls.
In the beginning of year 2017, Modi will again visit Gujarat for eighth edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Investor Summit to be in the second week of January next year in the state capital Gandhinagar. In the same year, Gujarat assembly polls will be held and the state BJP leader would require his frequent visit in order to secure victory.
