Modi visit to mark BJP's blitzkrieg in Telangana

The BJP is all to launch its major offensive in Telangana with its prime ministerial candidate and star campaigner Narendra Modi’s whirlwind tour on Tuesday. During his visit he will address massive rallies in four regions including Hyderabad, Modi is also set to launch party’s blitzkrieg involving many other senior leaders.

The rallies will be addressed in Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar and Hyderabad. While film star Pavan Kalyan will also be present in all the four rallies, however, ally Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu will be sharing the dais only in Hyderabad.

Though the TDP leader had evinced keen interest to share the stage at all the venues in Telangana, the State BJP leadership opposed it fearing that it may prove counter productive. Modi’s tour is not without its share of hitches as the BJP State unit found it hard to arrange a suitable venue for his programme in Hyderabad.

Initially, the election authorities and police also refused to use lal Bahadur Stadium as it was reportedly to be used to accommodate the additional police and security forces landing in the State for the election duty. However, the officials later relented and granted permission for meeting at the stadium.

It is the same venue where Modi had addressed a mammoth rally during his first visit to Hyderabad after becoming BJP’s PM candidate. Modi’s visit will be followed by several top BJP leaders in the week later. Former party president Nitin Gadkari will visit Adilabad and Nalgonda and Sushma Swaraj will address election meetings in Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda districts. Ravi Shankar Prasad will address a meeting of lawyers in Hyderabad. Similarly, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will also visit Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana.
