lashing out at the Congress for questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi for using Defence helicopter during poll campaigning, the BJP on Tuesday wondered as why no such questions were raised when Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Manmohan Singh used the same facility as Prime Ministers.
Taking exception to the comments of Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad as why Modi is campaigning in the Defence helicopter, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said Indira used the same facility for 16 years, Rajiv for five years and Singh for ten years. "What if Modi does soIJ" he asked and referred to Delhi High Court and Supreme Court's ruling that there was no bar on Prime Minister, protected by the SPG, using Defence helicopter.
Condemning the Congress leader's statement, he sought an apology from the Congress saying it was "a baseless and irresponsible comment". "These are chorus of baseless allegations by the Congress who is anticipating poll defeat and looking for an excuse", said Prasad.
Taking a dig at Congress for accusing the Modi-Government of sabotaging the Winter session of Parliament, Prasad asked "How much time does Rahul spend in ParliamentIJ last time his attendance in Parliament was 43 per cent and this time round 54 per cent,” he said. Besides, he also quizzed as how long Congress cice-president stay in the lok Sabha after attending itIJ
The senior Minister elicited occasions like debates on demonetisation, Goods and Services Tax and surgical strike when the Congress staged walk outs.
“Congress ran away from the debates then and now saying we are not allowing to discuss.." he said.
Prasad also pointed out as how Indira extended lok Saba tenure to six years as she did not want to step down .
