NDA’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s iconic Chai Pe Charcha campaign’s third round is to be conducted from Dabhadi village of Yavatmal district in Maharashtra on Thursday. The theme of the interaction is on agriculture sector and it would start from 5 pm and will continue for at least three hours.

The BJP, in collaboration with Citizens for Accountable Governance (CAG), has converted the unique initiative into a series of interactions between Modi and the people of India. The theme for the latest edition of Chai Pe Charcha is ‘Farmers and Agrarian Crisis’.

Just like previous two editions of Modi’s ‘tea party’, conducted from Ahmedabad and New Delhi on 12 February and 3 March this year respectively, Modi would connect to 1,500 tea stalls in 500 different cities across the country sitting in Dabhadi village.  Earlier sessions were on ‘Good Governance’ and ‘Women Empowerment’.

“The Indian agrarian sector’s problem is facing a sharp economic decline due to a variety of problems, especially relating to credit, input pricing, farming practices, marketing and social support structures. This has created major distress among farmers and has led to an epidemic of suicides in that section of the society,” said a senior BJP leader who is active in organising Chai pe Charcha.

looking to immediately address this serious issue third round of the campaign dedicated to agriculture sector, he said adding that the Gujarat Chief Minister would meet and interact with farmers directly to understand their problems and attend to their suggestions.

“This exercise will contribute to policy options on all facets of agrarian distress. Additionally, this session will also sensitize the nation to the severity of this current problem,” he added.
