Modi to inaugurate development projects in poll-bound Gujarat

Published on:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to visit his poll bound home-State on April 17 to inaugurate different projects in South Gujarat and Saurashtra regions.

Just like Uttar Pradesh, the ensuing Gujarat Assembly polls due in December too would be fought on Modi’s name.

In his upcoming visit Modi will inaugurate Sumul Dairy’s cattle feed plant at Bajipura village in Tapi district and an ice-cream plat. Besides, he would dedicate a trust run Rs400 crore hospital projects to people in Surat. He will also inaugurate Phase-1 of Saurashtra Narmada Avataran Irrigation (SAUNI) project in Botad district of Saurashtra region. He would also lay foundation stone for the Phase II of SAUNI project.

Apart from inauguration of projects, the Prime Minister will address public meetings at Bajipura and Botad. In August 2016 Modi laid foundation stone of phase I. The SAUNI project would make parched Saurashtra region’s farmer happy as under this project 115 dams of the region will be filled with excess overflowing water of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam through a pipeline network.

This would be Modi’s 11th visit to Gujarat after he became Prime Minister in May 2014. If sources in ruling BJP are to be believed in the coming six months he would visit to his poll bound home-State for another ten times.

“He is the only leader who can do damage control in Patidar dominated areas South Gujarat and Saurashtra regions where pro-quota leader Hardik Patel is having sway. Even strong leader like Amit Shah failed to deal with Patidar opposition during a public rally in Surat and he had to wind up his speech with in few minutes,” said a senior leader in BJP.

Gujarat is already in election mode. Rival political parties including opposition Congress party has already started election preparedness. Even Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s political outfit which had earlier announced to contest in all 182 assembly constituencies, has initiated door-to-door campaign in the State with a view to make its presence felt in the upcoming polls.
