Modi slams Opp's negative agenda

Published on:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a dig at the Opposition for its alleged tendency to stall parliamentary proceedings by accusing them of adhering to three negative Ds – disrupt, destroy and demolish.

“Usually when President Pranab Mukherjee speaks about something, they (Opposition) would keep quoting it for several days. But he had given a speech during his visit to Kolkata the other day but they are not showing any interest in quoting the words he spoke there,” Modi said in Kollam, Kerala while inaugurating a statue of former Chief Minister R Sankar.

“The President spoke of three Ds cardinal to parliamentary activities – Debate, Dissent and Decide. They just swallowed it. What they are interested in is three other Ds – Disrupt, Destroy and Demolish. Our way is the three Ds pointed out by the President. But we have a fourth D which is Development,” the Prime Minister said.

“The mentality of those who were sent home after the last lok Sabha elections, those who were defeated, is that they should destroy (us) even if they perish, even if Parliament does not function,” he added.
