Terming the Central Government directionless, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the present leadership seems unconcerned and careless over the continual falling of rupee’s value against US dollar.
Modi said, “India is heading towards a horrible economic mess which it had never thought of. But the autocrats of this country think nothing but to safeguard their own power. They are not concerned over preparing a plan for stopping the rupee to fall further or even to win back the lost trust of the people of India”.
The Central Government and the leaders at the helm have many times promised of taking steps for curbing inflation and bringing the nation out from economic problems, said Modi, adding that but what they give are mere empty promises and the people’s hope on them has proved false.
“The country is disappointed today because the Government is neither concerned about the economy nor the falling rupee. It is only worried about saving its chair,” said BJP’s campaign committee chief for 2014 elections reacting on the rupee’s continuous slide and slumped to a record low breaching the 64-mark against dollar.
The rupee has fallen rapidly in the past three months, but the Government has not taken any steps to strengthen the rupee against the US dollar, he said, adding that if the rupee keeps falling like this, other countries will start taking advantage of India.
