With BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s lok Sabha seat becoming a matter of intense speculation, party president Rajnath Singh has left it to Gujarat Chief Minister to identify a constituency of his choice.
Singh said Modi was a very popular leader and he can contest from anywhere in the country. “It is up to Modi to decide from where he wants to contest the next lok Sabha poll. He is so popular that he can contest from anywhere,” the BJP chief told Anurradha Prasad for Aamne Saamne on News 24.
“A pro-Modi wave is blowing across the country. This will translate into a landslide victory for the BJP. So much so that the party will achieve a majority on its own,” Singh claimed. He, though, claimed allies were important for the BJP and the party would try to rope in new partners before and after the election.
Singh defended Modi for his ‘toilet first, temples later’ remark, which triggered a row, saying while temple is a subject of faith, toilets were a basic necessity. He remained non-committal on projecting a CM candidate for Delhi.
“As a part of our strategy, we take decision. As a party of strategy, we sometimes do not take a decision,” Singh said. He also dismissed the rise of Aam Aadmi Party having any impact on the electoral performance of BJP.
