Modi Govt's work will talk for itself: Maneka

As questions are being raised on the silence of Prime Minister  Narendra Modi,  his Cabinet Minister Maneka Gandhi claimed that the Government’s focus is on performance. Defending Modi’s silence, Gandhi said that her Government’s performance will do the talking. The Woman and Child Development Minister also rejected the criticism that the PM was not communicating.

“The work is talking at the moment. There is absolutely no need for anyone to talk apart from their work”,  Gandhi said. She was responding to Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan’s remark that Modi was practising “silence” since coming into power. Chavan accused Modi saying his style of governance was “autocratic” which was “not good” for a healthy democracy.

In a sharp reaction to this Gandhi attacked the Congress-led UPA Government. “Manmohan Singh didn’t talk for 20 years. But in our Government, you are letting your Ministers and the work do its talk. It is not that you have got nothing to say like Manmohan Singh”, Gandhi said.
