Modi Govt has turned Indians into beggars: Didi

Published on:

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee once again hit out at the Narendra Modi Government on demonetisation saying “they have rendered the people of the country into beggars which can be seen from the long queues outside banks.”

A visibly fuming Mamata who left for Delhi on Tuesday said, “I am going to unite the Opposition parties against the autocratic, heartless and impractical move of the Central Government”

She further added that she had already spoken to other leaders including laloo Yadav, Nitish Kumar, Navin Patnaik, Omar Abdullah, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Arvind Kejriwal. “I had talks with them  and have no problem if they assume the leadership of this national movement. I am ready to support them from the back,” she said.

On whether she would be accompanied to the Rashtrapati Bhawan by all the parties that she had approached for support, she singled out the left saying, “they may choose their own time but I will definitely continue my movement.”

Incidentally senior CPI(M) leader and MP Md Salim had earlier attacked Mamata saying his party would never join the looters of public money through chit fund scam.

Mamata also attacked the Centre for deciding to put indelible ink on the fingers of the people who came to exchange their currency notes.

“The move itself shows that the Centre does not believe the common man which is the reason why they have decided to put indelible inks on their fingers,” she said wondering “whether the Election Commission of India is monitoring the move considering the fact that a number of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies in many States particularly in Bengal are going to by-elections.”
