Modi Govt a ‘national disaster', must be voted out, says Pawar

Upping the ante against the  Narendra Modi Government which he dubbed as a “national disaster”, NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Monday once again rooted for Opposition unity to “exterminate” the BJP-led Government at the Centre in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a party workers’ rally at Nashik in north Maharashtra, Pawar exhorted his party workers to remain vigilant about the machinations that the BJP-led State and Central Government might indulge in at the polling stations.

Pawar asked the local NCP workers to visit the various polling stations as early as 6.30 am on the polling day to check if the EVMs were functioning properly. “We have full faith in the Election Commission. But, we have strong reasons to suspect the motives of the BJP-led Governments in the State and at the Centre," he said.

Pawar said that since he anticipated the Election Commission to come out with a notification on the Lok Sabha poll schedule either on March 7 or 8,  he wanted the NCP workers to begin preparations for the polls.

Making a strong case for change in Governments at the Centre,  Pawar charged that the  apprehended that if the Modi Government returned to power in the country, the country could expect “dictatorship”, a situation where the people would lose all their democratic rights.
