Modi dispensation 'insincere, insensitive', says Congress

The Congress on Thursday attacked the Centre on various issues and alleged that it showed that Narendra Modi dispensation was “insincere, insensitive and unconcerned” to what is happening in the country.

While the party also snubbed the Government for not being able to control the rising of the food prices, especially pulses, an unfazed Congress also sought declassification of the secret files relating to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose immediately and will not wait till January 23, 2016.

AICC spokesman Anand Sharma was also critical of the Prime Minister’s remarks on the Dadri issue and cancellation of Ghulam Ali’s concert. Sharma insisted that the Prime Minister needed to go beyond expressing regret over the communal incidents in the country.

While it sought to dismiss as “perverse and cynical” Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s remarks trashing the steady stream of writers returning Sahitya Academy awards as a “manufactured paper rebellion”.

“It is most unfortunate that that is all what the Prime Minister had to say. This is not merely a law and order issue, it is a well orchestrated, planned campaign to polarise, to crate conflict, to create divisions in furtherance of a diabolic agenda of the radical elements, the so-called ‘Hindutva’ forces to create an environment of fear and to suppress any dissent, not to allow any free discussion and debate and intimidate those who protest,” Sharma at the AICC Press briefing.

On the issue of Netaji files, Sharma said the exercise was being undertaken with an eye on Assembly polls in West Bengal. “Why is the Government waiting till January 23, 2016 to make the documents publicIJ Is it because of Bengal pollsIJ They should do it today or tomorrow. Why to keep up the suspense”, Sharma said.
