As Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked first year in office on Tuesday, the JD(U) Government in Bihar mounted scathing attack on him and accused the PM of only building his own image at the cost of the dignity of the nation. Senior Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said, “Our Prime Minister is trying to emerge as a rockstar performer and he must be very happy to enthrall his audience abroad but the fact remains that his undiplomatic actions on foreign soils has made India a laughing stock and foreign nations are now taking India lightly. Some foreign powers are not leaving any opportunity to heap humiliation on India.”
Chaudhary said never before India faced such humiliations as witnessed during the visit of US President Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping besides Modi’s visit to Beijing. He reminded that the PM broke protocols during Obama’s visit and even made and served tea to him but what US President did at the end of his visit. He gave a lesson to India Government on secularism quoting Article 25 of Indian Constitution. Not only that, he added, back home in America Obama rebuked the social situation in India saying even Mahatma Gandhi would be feeling ashamed.
Chaudhary further recalled that when Xi Jinping was enjoying merry go round with Modi in Ahmadabad, the Chinese troops were pitching their tents in ladakh and When Modi was in Beijing, the Chinese official TV showed the Indian map which excluded Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh as if they were not part of India.
“There is a calculated attempt to enhance the image of one person at the cost of the interest and integrity of the country and dwarf the dignity of India,” said Chaudhary and asked what had been the achievement of Modi’s foreign diplomacy except his own image building and getting benefits to his close aides including Adani. “In foreign nations Modi is also known as selfie PM,” he said in a critical tone. While Chaudhary called Modi a rock star PM, another minister Shyam Rajak named him as a ‘Katha wachak’ (storyteller).
