BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Thursday came down heavily on Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wondering whether she had brought any discernible Parivartan as desired by the people of her State.
“The people of Bengal had wanted to bring Parivartan in the State but the question is whether a real Parivartan has come here or not,” the Gujarat Chief Minister, who was holding a rally at Matigara in Siliguri, said adding the Trinamool supremo was only playing vote-bank politics by continuously attacking him.
"Her only work these days is to attack Modi. If she does not attack Modi she cannot digest her food," the senior BJP leader, who had thus far desisted from making a comment on Banerjee, said.Under pressure from her political opponents to prove her secular credentials, Banerjee had of late resorted to attacking the Gujarat Chief Minister more often than not often calling him an anarchist.
Attacking his Bengal counterpart, Modi said there was no development in Bengal save Saradha chit fund scam. "Two years have already passed since the new Government has come. But have you seen any Parivartan hereIJ" Modi said wondering what the people could expect from a Government that could mastermind a chit fund fraud of such magnitude in two years.Modi had come to campaign for his party candidate SS Ahluwalia for Darjeeling seat where the BJP is supported by the GJM.
The Gujarat Chief Minister also attacked the Congress calling the people to throw out the UPA-II from the Centre so that a firm Government could be in place in Delhi. "Once a strong Government comes in Delhi there will be no problem in Bengal," he maintained.
