nBolstering Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election campaign on two Lok Sabha seats from Jammu region, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a ‘blistering’ attack on three rival political parties — the Congress, the National Conference (NC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and held them responsible for the current situation in Jammu & Kashmir.
Prime Minister accused the Congress and its policy makers for not according top priority to the issues of National Security and striking ‘discordant’ notes against the wishes of the countrymen at a crucial juncture.
He also pointed fingers towards the Congress party for taking support of two Kashmir-based regional parties for its own survival in the electoral fray in Jammu ignoring the statements and stand taken by the leaders of these parties in Kashmir valley .
The Congress had earlier fielded joint candidates, from Jammu-Poonch and Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat, after stitching a tactical alliance with the NC to defeat the BJP. The PDP has also extended support to the two Congress candidates in Jammu province.
Before kick-starting his election campaign, Prime Minister Modi remembered party stalwart Prem Nath Dogra and saluted members of the Dogra community. He also greeted them in chaste ‘Dogri’ language amid thundering applause.
“I am happy that when I have set out to reach out to the people of this country ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, I came to Jammu first”, Modi said.
Addressing a mammoth election rally in the border belt of Akhnoor Prime Minister said, “Congress, NC & PDP are responsible for the problems Jammu & Kashmir faces today. It is because of them that Kashmiri Pandits faced so much trouble. Terrorism took roots in the State. Sadly, national security is not a priority for them, they only care about power and their dynastic politics”.
He said “leaders of these three political parties in the state are losing their sleep following complete crackdown by the security agencies on terrorist organisations and their sympathisers in the State.
Referring to Balakote strikes on terror factories active in Pakistan, Modi said, “ever since India demonstrated its capacity to destroy terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistan one after the other senior congress leaders are speaking against the national interest and giving clean chits to terrorists and Pakistan”.
He said even those parties who ruled the State of Jammu & Kashmir for many years are doing the same. Commenting on the language of opposition, Modi said that Pakistan applauds such voice.
“The whole country is talking in one voice and these Congress people are talking in a different voice. Do you accept this language of Congress? Of PDP? of NC? Pakistan applauds their language,” said Modi.
Further escalating its sharp attack on the Opposition, Modi said, “What is beyond comprehension is Congress’ attitude. Is it the same Congress that Sardar Patel was a part of? Is it the same Congress that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was a part of, and fought for India’s independence,” Modi asked.
Modi said, if you monitor social media and TV channels in Pakistan, terrorists and their handlers are all praying to get rid of ‘Chowkidar’ and victory of ‘mahamilavati alliace’ in Lok Sabha polls. In his 35 minute speech Prime Minister also presented a comprehensive report card of his government before the electorate and sought another term to carry forward the journey on road to prosperity.
