Union Ministers are pulling out all the stops in their "praise" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On Wednesday, hitting back at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi for leveling corruption charges against the Prime Minister, Union Telecom Minister Ravishankar Prasad described Modi to be as "pure as River Ganga".
Earlier in the day, another Central Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi likened Modi to a "saint" working for the uplift of the poor even as he urged Muslims to engage in digital transactions.
lashing out at the Congress vice president for criticising Modi and RBI, Naqvi, the Minority Affairs Minister, said Rahul should take note of "lessons" people are teaching his party by defeating it in municipal polls held after October eight decision on demonetisation.
"We agree initially there was some lacuna (in implementation of demonetisation) which is being addressed with support from people. We feel there is inconvenience, but no pain. The pain is not there because the one who is at the helm of country's affairs, the Prime Minister, is an honest person. He is working with a strong resolve for the uplift of poor like a saint," Naqvi said.
Naqvi made these comments on the sidelines of second leg of 'Cashless Chaupal' organised here by his Ministry in its bid to connect minorities to cashless economic system. A presentation was also made by NITI Aayog representatives during the event on modes of cashless transactions
Criticizing Rahul for stating that RBI has been changing rules post demonetisation "like the PM changes his clothes," Naqvi said the "brand new leader of the grand old party" is writing the last chapter of "Congress-free India dream" by making such comments.
Prior to Prasad and Naqvi, Information & Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu had recently termed Modi as "God's gift to India" and a "messiah for the poor".
