The BJP has once again rescheduled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bengal tour. Now the Prime Minister who was supposed to begin his Bengal tour on December 24 with a rally at Krishnagar, will not start his campaign from Siliguri instead.

Modi’s rally at the North Bengal city will take place on December 16, State BJP sources said adding the rescheduling had been done following a request from the Prime Minister’s office. Modi had expressed his wishes to start the campaigns from North Bengal.

The Prime Minister will address four mass meetings during the course of Rath Yatras in the State. The proposed rallies would be in addition to the fifth and final one at the historic Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata presumably on January 23.

“The Prime Minister himself has expressed his willingness to address these rallies in the course of the Yatras,” Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh earlier said adding the State party was elated and was in touch with the Prime Minister’s office for the purpose.

The rallies were likely to be held at Durgapur, Birbhum, Siliguri and most probably Coochbehar in North Bengal. The State BJP will take out three Rath (chariot) Yatras from Ganga Sagar, Birbhum and Coochbehar. The three Yatras will commence on December 5, 7 and 9 and will be inaugurated by BJP president Amit Shah.
