Protesting the Cabinet move over Telangana, HRD Minister MM Pallam Raju has tendered his resignation to the Prime Minister. Raju did not turn up to the HRD Ministry and all his appointments were taken by colleague MoS Shashi Tharoor.
“I met the Prime Minister and offered to resign during the Cabinet meet on Thursday but he advised not to take a hasty decision. But after taking a second thought over the issue I decided to resign from the Union Council of Ministers and have done so,” Raju said. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had advised Raju not to resign from the Cabinet while opposing the decision to split Andhra Pradesh.
Raju, who hails from Seema-Andhra region, has been strongly opposing the division of Andhra Pradesh and has been critical of the way the Government was going about on the issue.
