Unable to bear the loss of her Personal Secretary (PS), the JD(U) MlA from Rupauli in Purnea, Bima Bharti has sought the intervention of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the harshest possible punishment to her estranged husband and accomplices for killing her well trusted lieutenant for the last more than eight years.

She called on State Director General of Police Abhayanand on Tuesday for the quick disposal of the murder case and severe punishment to her husband Awadhesh Mandal and other accomplices.

“I am trying to meet the Chief Minister to inform him how the police officers were casual in their approach leading to the killing of my PS and also their alleged lackadaisical approach in extracting proper confessional statements from them,” she remarked.

“Though I had always apprehended threat to my life, I never thought that one day I will lose my PS, who always stood by me for the last nearly 8-10 years,” she added.

Purnea Superintendent of Police Kim Sharma told The Pioneer that Awadhesh Mandal is the prime accused in the murder of the MlA’s PS Santosh Mandal. She said that Awadhesh Mandal and his other four accomplices had already been arrested while efforts are on to nab three others.

The MlA had lodged an FIR with Bhawanipur police station in this connection and named nine people including Awadhesh Mandal.

She alleged that Awadhesh Mandal and a JD(U) MlA from Purnea district conspired to kill her PS as they were jealous of her wide popularity in her constituency. She said that the way her PS had been killed, she finds herself left in the lurch, not knowing how to come out from the shock.

“Once I overcome my grief and trauma, I will mobilise people against the killing of my PS,” she informed. She said that only the constant public pressure will force the police personnel to act swiftly and take appropriate action against those who were responsible for the gruesome murder of her PS.

Awadhesh Mandal is a known history-sheeter and he had always a strained relationship with Bima Bharti who even dragged him to to court, hurling charges of abuse and torture against him.
