Firm's offices, CMD, officials' residences scanned
The CBI, which has already surprised and shocked the ruling BJD by conducting raids and interrogating its leaders in connection with chit fund company Artha Tatwa (AT) Group, launched one of its biggest operations against ponzi firm Seashore Group on Thursday.
According to reports, ten teams of the CBI simultaneously raided offices and residences of top officials of the company at 29 places across the State throughout the day. The officers engaged in the raids were brought from other States, it added.
Sources informed that two teams of CBI officials raided the house of Seashore CMD Prashant Kumar Das at Jharpada and the company's office at Saheed Nagar in the city. Another team of the CBI also raided the residence of the company’s director Gopal Chandra Sahu in Nayapalli area in the capital region and at his village Sarua near Khurdha.
Notably, the State Crime Branch, which was probing the chit fund scam earlier, had handed over all official documents and files of the company seized by them to the CBI on September 5 last. The Crime Branch had also submitted other materials, including bank accounts, chequebooks, land documents, bank drafts and receipts of gold biscuits purchased from the banks and jewellery of Seashore to the CBI.
Apart from the seized documents, the Crime Branch had also submitted a recorded copy of the Seashore Group CMD’s statement taken by the State agency during his interrogation conducted earlier.
