Though three of their most experienced aviators went missing with their Dornier aircraft on June 8 and all efforts to salvage the missing aircraft have failed to yield any result, officers and personnel of the Coast Guard Chennai celebrated International Yoga Day. SP Sharma, Inspector General, commander, Coast Guard (East) urged the officers and personnel to adapt healthy life style by including Yoga as compulsory part of the life to deal day to-day stress.
Inspector General Sharma told The Pioneer that the search and salvage operation for the missing aircraft has zeroed to a one nautical mile x one nautical mile in a region close to the Cuddalore coast. When asked why the fortnight-long salvage operation has not yielded any results , a visibly upset commander pointed out that the Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 which has been missing since March 2014 is yet to be traced.
But he expressed confidence that the next couple of days will yield some valuable inputs which would help in recovering /salvaging the aircraft. “The biggest achievement over the last fortnight has been that we have come closer to the most probable area where the debris or fuselage of the aircraft is there,” said Sharma.
Since Friday last, the search for the aircraft is being done by Olympic Canyon, a US ship which has been hired by Reliance India for their oil exploration work.
