Assam Police has apprehended five juveniles for raping a minor girl at a locality in Guwahati. Senior Superintendent of Police (Guwahati) Anand Prakash Tiwary said this on Tuesday while adding that all the five accused have been produced before the Juvenile Board and sent to reform homes as per the Board’s recommendation.
“The incident took place on Saturday last when the five youths raped an 11-year-old girl. The girl told her mother about the incident on Sunday, who in turn registered a police case against the accused,” said Tiwary while adding that they were picked up on Monday and produced before the Juvenile Board.
“The medical examination of the girl confirmed the rape and during investigation we have found enough evidence to prove the involvement of the five youths in raping the minor girl,” Tiwary said, adding that they have also been sent for bone marrow test to ascertain their age.
“However, we have checked their credentials like the age proof and they all are minors. We are also going to submit the chargesheet before the court soon,” he said.
