A minor Assamese girl who was allegedly trafficked to Delhi and forced into prostitution was rescued by police from South-East Delhi’s Okhla area on Saturday night.
A woman, identified as Guddi (31), who had brought the girl from Assam on the pretext of job, kept her captive and forced her into prostitution, was arrested from her home in Khanpur after police registered a case under POCSO and other relevant sections of law.
The incident came to light around 10 pm when some locals saw the girl sitting and crying beside a railway track and made a PCR call. A police team brought her to Okhla Police Station where she revealed her ordeal.
“The girl was brought to Delhi by Guddi a few months back and kept captive at her home in Khanpur. She then brought men to her house who raped the girl. Guddi had even told her that she has sold her to some other party who will soon take her somewhere else,” said a police official.
She somehow managed to flee on Saturday. The girl has been sent to children’s home for counseling and efforts are being made to locate her family. A medical examination has confirmed rape.
Efforts are on to nab the persons who assaulted the girl, police said.
