'Ministry is taking all necessary steps to mitigate air pollution'

The Ministries of Environment, Health and Family Welfare are to assess the trends and impacts of pollution on human health. This was stated by the Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave, on Wednesday, assuring that the Ministry is taking all necessary steps to mitigate air pollution.

His statements came in the wake of global reports linking deaths to air pollution. While speaking at a Press meet, Dave noted, “Such reports are often based on extrapolation without due scientific validation.”

He sought to shift the onus to State Governments and local bodies, saying “tackling air pollution was no rocket science and they have to play a decisive role as the Centre can only work like a philosopher and guide to them.”
