Senior Telangana Minister T Harish Rao has once again become target of a vilification campaign on WhatsApp on a fake news that he was planning to join the BJP.
The State irrigation Minister Harish Rao, who is also the nephew of the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has sought the help of the State Director General of Police to track down the elements responsible for the misleading propaganda. He spoke to the DGP over phone and requested him to take action against impostors who had used the logo of a local Telugu TV channel to create a false headline about his political plans. The headline said that Harish Rao will soon defect to BJP along with his followers among the TRS MlAs.
Addressing a press conference Harish Rao said, “my political career was born in the TRS and it will end in the TRS. My loyalties remain with the TRS and the party president K Chandrasekhar Rao”, he said.
Harish Rao, who is one of the senior most leaders of TRS is largely seen as a rival to K Taraka Rama Rao, another important Minister and son of KCR. With KCR announcing his plans to enter the national politics, speculations have started that his son KTR will succeed him as the Chief Minister.
Whenever such speculations increase, Harish Rao’s future also become subject of conjectures. Earlier also there were rumors that the BJP and the Congress leaders had approached him to switch over to their parties in case of KTR becomes the successor. However Harish Rao had strongly rejected such propaganda and ruled out changing the loyalties.
“The campaign on social media is aimed at creating rift in the party and I don’t want to comment on such things”, he said.
