MIM not to contest Delhi polls

Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, which has become a thorn in the flesh of many political parties, has decided not to contest Delhi Assembly elections. MIM president and Hyderabad member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi said that the party will not enter the fray in Delhi as it did not have strong organisation or booth-level cadre.

“We took the decision in the meeting of party MlAs and MlCs,” he told the media in Hyderabad. At the same time he made it clear that MIM will not support any party in Delhi elections. Owaisi said that his party will take up various programmes to strengthen itself in Delhi and after the Assembly elections it will contest all the elections there.

He appealed to the people of Delhi to elect secular candidates who were committed to development and welfare. Ever since it made a surprising debut in Maharashtra Assembly elections by winning two seats, Hyderabad-based MIM has become the focus of attention of other parties. The party has already decided to contest Assembly elections in Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.
