Milkipur bypoll: Akhilesh Yadav alleges election machinery misuse

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a decisive victory in the Milkipur Assembly by-election in Uttar Pradesh, but the result has sparked controversy, with the main Opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) alleging misuse of election machinery.

Reacting to the defeat, SP chief and Lok Sabha MP Akhilesh Yadav claimed that electoral "fraud" was possible in a single seat but would not be feasible across all 403 Assembly constituencies in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh elections. "This victory is a lie, and the BJP will never be able to celebrate it fully. Their guilt and fear of defeat will give them sleepless nights," Yadav wrote in a post on X.

The Milkipur seat, part of the Faizabad Lok Sabha constituency, was left vacant after sitting SP MLA Awadhesh Prasad was elected to Parliament. In the bypoll, the SP fielded Ajeet Prasad, while the BJP nominated Chandrabhanu Paswan, who emerged victorious.

Alleging large-scale manipulation, Yadav warned that officials complicit in election fraud would eventually face consequences. "Neither nature nor law will spare them. The BJP will use and throw them. When they lose their jobs and pensions, they will suffer alone," he said.

The by-election results come as a significant boost for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, further intensifying the political battle ahead of the 2027 Assembly polls.
