In a shocking incident, a mentally deranged person killed his five family members including his 70-year-old mother, his minor nephew and nieces by attacking them with an axe at Bihjadi village under Sardei police outpost in Vaishali district late night on Wednesday.
Superintendent of Police of Vaishali, Suresh Prasad Choudhary said that an intensive search operation was on to nab the culprit. The police personnel have been deployed at the village of the mass killer so that he does not attack others. The police are also taking the help of their intelligence wing to apprehend the murderer, Sunil Giri.
The police said that Giri first killed his 10-year-old nephew and five-year-old niece, while they were fast asleep. Subsequently, he killed his mother in the brutal attack.
No male member of the family was present in the house at the time of the incident. The police said that the father of Giri had gone to Chhapra to attend a marriage function while his two brothers went out of their house to participate in another marriage function at the village.
While a girl child saved her life by hiding under an wooden cot, the life of another child was saved as he was sleeping in the kitchen.
The police said that mother, nephew and niece of the blood-thirsty relative died on the spot while his sister-in-law and another 10-year-old niece died at Patna Medical College Hospital during the treatment on Thursday. One more sister-in-law of the killer relative is presently undergoing treatment at PMCH where her condition is stated to be out of danger.
The father of Sunil Giri, Nageshwar Giri who was a railway employee, said that his son had been suffering from mental illness for long and was also taking medicines for the treatment. The police said that once cremation of the deceased relatives is over, the police will take details of the medical history of the murderer for reaching at the final conclusion on his mental status.
