Chief of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti, on Thursday, mocked Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his decision to leave Ganderbal constituency saying the election verdict has been announced much before the votes are cast.
“Ganderbal has, in fact, announced the result of the entire State by making Omar Abdullah, head of the outgoing Government, run from here in pursuit of a safe seat,” she said while addressing villagers in the constituency.Omar chose to contest from Beerwah and Sonwar constituencies instead of Ganderbal a constituency his father and grandfather have also fought elections from. Omar was defeated by PDP’s Qazi Afzal in 2002 elections but won in the subsequent 2008 polls.
Meanwhile, in Baramulla, PDP patron and former Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed said Jammu & Kashmir can be governed effectively only by a party which has the legitimate mandate of the people and articulates their political, social and economic aspirations with conviction and consistency.
