Historic lok Sabha constituency of Medak in Telangana, which was once represented by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi is once again headed for a high-profile battle royal between sitting MP and actor Vijayashanti and her erstwhile mentor TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Vijayashanti, who had won the seat in 2009 on TRS ticket, has quit the party and joined the Congress amid the reports that she was unhappy with the plans of KCR to seek the seat for him self.
Vijayashanti told the media that she was definitely going to be a candidate from the Medak lok Sabha constituency. It had become certain after the TRS refused to have an alliance with the Congress.
Vijayashanti has been a party hopper. She was one of the prominent campaigners of the BJP in 1999 2004 but before 2009 elections she joined the TRS.
KCR on the other hand has been changing his lok Sabha constituency in every election. After winning Karimnagar lok Sabha constituency in 2004 in alliance with the Congress party, he resigned the seat when the relations between the two parties broke. later he won the seat in a by election in 2006.
In 2009 he moved to Mahubnagar lok Sabha constituency and won the seat in an alliance with the Telugu Desam party. But he was unlikely to seek the re-election from the same constituency where TRS is on a weak wicket.
