As part of its ongoing efforts under the “Encroachment-Free Gurugram” campaign, the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) carried out a major anti-encroachment drive on Palam Vihar Road on Monday.
The campaign, led by the MCG’s street vending management team, aimed to clear illegal structures and ensure smooth traffic movement and pedestrian access.
During the operation, the team removed unauthorised carts, kiosks, and temporary structures that had been set up on roadsides and footpaths. Officials issued strict warnings to local vendors and encroachers, stating that any repeat violations would invite legal action.
The initiative is part of MCG’s broader strategy to create a clean, organised and citizen-friendly urban environment. Officials emphasised that such efforts are essential not only for maintaining civic order but also for ensuring the uninterrupted movement of traffic and emergency services.
Local residents welcomed the move, lauding the municipal body’s commitment to improving public spaces. Many highlighted the challenges posed by unchecked encroachments, which often block pathways and contribute to congestion on busy roads like Palam Vihar. MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya reiterated the corporation’s commitment to maintaining public order and cleanliness in the city.
“Making Gurugram a clean, safe, and smoothly functioning city remains our top priority. Encroachments not only disrupt traffic but also inconvenience the public. This campaign will continue to ensure systematic urban development,” he said.
