Mayawati urges UP Govt to make public Justice Vishnu Sahay report

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati demanded on Thursday that the Justice Vishnu Sahay report on the Muzaffarnagar riots be made public immediately and the State Government should punish the guilty.

“Though everyone knows that the Muzaffarnagar riots, which later spread to adjoining districts, was a result of the failure of the SP regime and a planned operation between the ruling the SP and BJP, yet people should know the details of the probe report,” said the BSP chief in a released statement.

Mayawati said there was all possibility that the probe could be an effort to cover up the lapses of the State Government and might implicated the Opposition but it was an open secret that SP and BJP leaders were in cahoots, on the issue.

The BSP leader said thousands of poor families were displaced due to the riots and later the SP Government even bulldosed their temporary dwellings set up on Government land. She further alleged the SP Government was known for instigating communal riots for political interest and numerous riots took place during their last regime as well.

“The Muzaffarnagar riots have shattered our social fabric and the ruling dispensation failed to nail the accused BJP leaders, who sided with the rioters,” she said.  Justice (Retd) Vishnu Sahay submitted his report to Governor Ram Naik and the State Government two years after of the riots.
