Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the reservation issue saying that people of the country were now fed up with the Jumla baji (rhetoric) of the BJP leaders particularly of the PM.
“In the one end PM says that reservation will continue but on the other hand the RSS and other BJP leaders demands for its abolishment which is unfortunate,” she said while demanding that such confusion should end.
Mayawat said if PM is really concerned for the Dalits then he should bring the reservation under the ninth schedule of the Constitution, besides extend reservation facilities in the private sector and implement reservation in promotion in all Government jobs.
In a Press statement released here on Friday afternoon, the former UP CM said though the PM has announced for a Memorial and Museum on the name of Dr B R Ambedkar, but till the reservation issue is sorted out permanently, Dalits in the country would continue to live under apprehension over their future. “We are fed up with the jumla baji (rhetoric) of the PM and it would be better if he should ask the BJP and RSS leaders to clarify their stand and stop raking up the issue of reservation,” she said.
The BSP president also expressed her concern on the rising backlog in the appointment of Dalits in the reservation quota in Government jobs. Government should do something to fill the vacancies at the earliest, she added.
