Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati condemned BJP president Amit Shah’s statement at a rally in Etawah of forming Governments like the one during Kalyan Singh’s regime. She asked Shah to tender an apology for making the statement which had hurt public sentiments.
“Kalyan Singh’s Government was involved in unconstitutional work during 1992 for which the then BJP Government was sacked by the Apex Court and Kalyan Singh was also held guilty”, pointed out Mayawati.
“Shah’s statement has hurt the sentiments of 22 crore people of Uttar Pradesh and hence the BJP president must immediately apologise for his statement,” she said.
She further hit out at Shah for saying that both the SP and BSP could not improve law and order in the State. “The law and order during BSP’s regime was the best with most criminals in jails and people living without fear. The situation in Delhi as well as all BJP-ruled states is very bad. The poor and Dalits had to bear the atrocities, minorities were facing riots and no one is feeling safe,” asserted BSP chief.
Interestingly, Mayawati also attacked the BJP on safety of border areas. “Shah claims that international borders during Modi’s rule are most safe is not correct as everyone knows that how cross-border firing was taking place everyday due to the NDA’s flawed policies. In recent times, several Army personnel and other civilians have been killed,” she said.
Mayawati said that just like people are fed up with corruption and wrong policies of Congress and taught them lesson in 2014 elections, the BJP too will face the same fate as people have readthrough the BJP’s fake promises of ‘achche din’. She claimed that the BSP will be forming the Government in UP after the coming Assembly polls.
